History

Amsterdam Lions Lacrosse was founded in 2004 as one of the first lacrosse clubs in the Netherlands. Since then, the game has grown – lacrosse is now widely represented in the Netherlands with clubs in cities throughout the country, and an official national lacrosse federation (Nederlandse Lacrosse Bond). The nationwide league was established in 2007, and in 2012 Amsterdam hosted the European Lacrosse Championships.

Competition

Amsterdam Lacrosse has four teams competing in the national leagues: one men’s, two women’s, and one youth team. The first men’s and women’s teams play in the first division, and the second women’s team in the second division. Our first men’s team has been national champion 10 times: 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 2014, 2015, 2017, 2017 and 2019. The ladies took the national title home for the fourth time in 2018.

Practice & Fun

The Amsterdam Lions practice twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays), 20:00 – 22:00 and play games on Sundays (+- every other week). Also many social activities are part of the Lion experience, for instance ‘after practice’ drinks on Fridays. The youth team practice once a week on Friday 18.15 – 19.45.
